Valence feels outdated and underwhelming in 2026. With today’s AI capabilities, it’s disappointing that Roon still can’t deliver meaningful personalized discovery: no real ‘Daily Mix’-style playlists based on my actual listening habits, no smart ‘New Releases for You’ tailored to my taste profile, no solid artist/radio recommendations that feel like they understand me or people similar to me.
The UI, library management and overall experience are excellent, but the discovery side is seriously behind; Spotify and even YouTube Music do a far better job at surfacing music I’ll actually enjoy.
Is this due to budget constraints, technical choices (e.g. privacy focus limiting data), or has personalized discovery simply not been a priority for years? Probably some combination.
Curious to hear from the Roon team or other users: are there concrete plans to overhaul Valence/Roon Radio and add proper personalized features like daily mixes, taste-based new release suggestions, etc. in the near term?
