Combination of local and Qobuz for music

Number of Tracks in Library

Description of Issue

Unusual operation when playing artist with Qobuz enabled. This is replacement for a previous ticket which got overloaded on noise - this should be trimmed down sufficiently to home in on the problem more easily.

Three scenarios:

  1. With Qobuz disabled, select an Artist and press “Play now”. In this case Roon builds a queue of random tracks from the artist located on the local machine and sets off playing them.

  2. With Qobuz enabled, select an Artist and press “Play now”. In this case Roon goes into radio mode (i.e. rather than showing the whole randomised playlist it shows next and coming up). At this point, select “Limit Roon Radio to library”. At this point the radio continues as expected, pulling only from the local machine.

  3. With Qobuz enabled, select an Artist and press “Play now”. In this case Roon goes into radio mode (i.e. rather than showing the whole randomised playlist it shows next and coming up). Do not limit Roon Radio to the library (but should be limited to artist). In this case, the radio is limited to only a small number of tracks (<10), usually the same ones, before giving up and stopping the radio. The radio pulls tracks from Qobuz in preference to equivalent local copies.

Note that Qobuz login is valid and active, with no problems viewing or playing Qobuz-only content elsewhere.

Hi Grumpy,

Let me share what I see.

  1. Yes, like you. If you turn off /disable streaming services, Roon will default back to the old way of doing things as you have noticed in the queue.

  2. Yes. The Valence AI which is active if there is an enabled streaming content. Once you click the “Limit Roon Radio to Library” button, however, you will notice that on the left you are no longer IN Roon Radio, you are in Shuffle mode. At this point, stopping playback and choosing another artist keeps you locked into local shuffle playback (like #1 but the whole queue isn’t displayed, it is chosen track by track).

Also, once limited to Library, that choice stays even with the closing and opening of the Roon client. You need to specifically uncheck the option, and, if it is there, I always choose the End button. To make sure that everything is cleared out and not confused.

  1. This is basically the normal Play Artist with streaming services engaged. And, in this case, I personally do NOT get a repetitive track recycling. I just did it with Stars of the Lid, a band with limited albums in the first place, and not a single repeat in 30 tracks.

This is now solved. It was a corrupted database which was flagged by build 880. I had to do a rebuild from scratch (no backups worked) and the problem has disappeared.
