Describe the issue
I have a Cambridge Edge NQ with RoonReady
I have a Roon ROCK
I drive it with Roon app on my iPhone
Recently, I can start playback but then during playback it crashes.
Music stops. The album cover disappears off the Edge screen and it goes back to the “Roon input screen”. The Roon app on my phone stays open but jumps to the next song in the queue.
All 3 are latest software and firmware
It’s so weird. How do I troubleshoot?
Describe your network setup
Ubiquiti home network. Server wired connection. Streamer wired connection. Wi-Fi 6 connection from phone.
Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! Based on a fresh diagnostic report, the playback is stopping (or will inevitably stutter/stop) because the data isn’t reaching your Cambridge Audio Edge NQ fast enough to maintain the 24-bit/192kHz stream.
The most critical line in your log is this warning:
You are trying to stream 24/192 Tidal FLAC. This requires a consistent, high-speed throughput.
Roon calculated that it needs at least 7810 kbps to stay ahead of the buffer for this specific track. Your network was only providing 1491 kbps at that moment.
The Result: You are only getting about 19% of the speed required for lossless 24/192 playback.
Here are some next steps for you to try:
Test with Lower Quality: Go into your Tidal services settings in Roon and limit the "Max Streaming Quality" to CD Quality (16/44). If the stopping disappears, your network definitely cannot handle the 24/192 "Max" streams.
Hardwire Everything: If your Roon Server or your Cambridge Edge NQ are on Wi-Fi, this is likely the culprit. 24/192 streams are notoriously sensitive to Wi-Fi interference and "jitter." Switch to Ethernet if at all possible.
Check DNS Settings: Since the metadata timed out, try changing the DNS on your router (or the machine running Roon) to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8). This often resolves the "easyhttp" timeouts.
Reboot the Chain: It’s a cliché for a reason. Power cycle the router, then the Roon Core, then the Edge NQ. This clears out hanging TCP connections that might be clogging the RAAT protocol.
We’ll be on standby for your reply and results, thank you! 🙌
Since you are fully wired, it is definitely strange to see that kind of throughput drop, but it could be something as simple as a bad cable, a specific switch port, or a router setting (like Energy Efficient Ethernet).
Please let us know how your testing goes! We will be here if you need further assistance.
