When I listen to music (from the local hard drive or via streaming), there are short or long pauses (dropouts) at irregular intervals. The problem does not occur when I use the Sonos app. So it doesn't seem to be the network, but Roon. Is there anything that can be done?
Describe your network setup
FRITZ!Box 7490, the server is connected via Ethernet, the speakers via WLAN. There are no other problems with the network.
Can you please confirm if this issue only affects your Sonos devices, or does it also impact other zones (such as System Output)? Can you share the date + time + track of when the next failure occurs so that we can enable diagnostics mode and review logging?
It affects all zones. I can’t say anything about system output because I don’t use this zone, but it affects all speakers, including the one on my MacBook.
The problem occurred again this morning: at 5:56 AM with Live Radio (BR Klassik). It is independent of whether a track is played from the music librarym from Live Radio or from Qobuz, or whether I listen to music via Arc.
By the way, it’s not always just short interruptions, sometimes the transmission stops completely. I can’t recognise a rule as to when one or the other happens.
Thanks for your patience! Sorry your issues persist as well.
We’re having a hard time connecting to your machine running Roon Server, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
Unfortunately, there is no indication of any failures according to the logs you’ve sent over. Let’s see if refreshing your RAATServer database may help:
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
I’m not surprised that nothing has turned up, although the problem did occur several times this morning.
I have no idea what a “RAAT server” is and, to be honest, I don’t want to reset my Roon settings and set them up again. So I’ll leave everything as it is for now and check again to see if the problem occurs in my other house, where I’ll be spending the next few weeks. (I’m almost sure it will, but I can’t remember exactly.)
If it does, so be it, and I’ll probably have to go back to Sonos, which I don’t like, but there I get the music without interruptions, which is worth a lot to me. If it doesn’t, I’ll see what I can do. For now, the problem is obviously not fixable, and we can leave it at that for now.
P.S.: No firewall is enabled on my Mac, and the server is not running on any Mac.
Understood, if you change your mind in regards to troubleshooting certainly let us know. I’ll close your thread for now - if issues pop up in your other environment please fill out a fresh report as it’s a different Roon ecosystem. Thank you!
