Hello @qj.diong ,

Thanks for letting us know. Does this issue happen when playing to your System Output zone as well? The most common cause for similar behavior is a firewall.

Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
Yes, the System Output zone shows the exact same issue. Both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have already been added to the Windows Firewall, and I’ve also performed a complete reinstall, but neither resolved the problem.
Your technical advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @qj.diong,

This sounds like it’s related to the gaming audio stack that diagnostics indicate Roon is feeding across these Zones.

This critical error repeats throughout logs and corresponds to the error you’re seeing in the GUI when playback fails:

RAAT__OUTPUT_PLUGIN_STATUS_FORMAT_NOT_SUPPORTED```

You appear to have a constellation of gaming-related Zones, one of which GameDAC Hi-Res) is forcing Wasapi into shared mode.

Are you using any sort of mixer-layer control for gaming, like SteelSeries SONAR? This might be interfering with Roon.

Here’s what I would try, if you haven’t:

  1. A common workaround is to simply set the Roon Zones as 5.1 instead of stereo:

Roon → Settings → Audio

Click the :gear: for the each affected Zone

Set:

Channel layout: 5.1

  1. If that doesn’t help, try disabling all Audio Enhancements in the Windows Sound Settings:

Windows Sound Settings → Device → Properties → Enhancements

Turn off spatial audio, audio enhancements, etc.

  1. Try forcing a Fixed Sample rate and bit-depth in Device Setup or in MUSE (48Khz/16-bit).

  2. Try disabling Exclusive Mode

Let us know if this helps. Please share a screenshot of your Roon Settings → Audio page and also your Signal Path with any affected Zone.

We’ll watch for your reply.

Hi @qj.diong,

We haven’t seen any response to this thread in a few days. Have you tried setting the Zone to 5.1 in Device Setup?

Please let us know if you’re still stuck and we’ll promptly provide some additional suggestions. Otherwise, this thread will auto-close due to inactivity after a few more days.

Thank you!
