I cannot play TIDAL on my Nucleus (lower model of the first generation). When I attempt to play an album, the song titles automatically advance from the first track to the second, and in many cases, after the three to fifth track, a warning message saying 'Too many faikures, stopping playback. ’ is displayed, and playback stops. Sometimes, after giving the play command, it freezes and does not move at all for a long time. Roon is updated to the latest version. The internet connection is good, with an upload speed of 100 Mbps and a download speed of 80 Mbps. I need advice to resolve these issues.Thank you.
Is the Nucleus connected via Ethernet? If not, try connecting by ethernet and test it again.
Some things to try:
- Reboot everything (network, nucleus, remotes)
- Go to settings/services and log out of Tidal and then log back in
- Try changing the Tidal stream quality (I don’t have Tidal anymore but I believe it’s on the settings/services page as a drop down?)
The last thing to try (after all else above) is to delete the Tidal DB and let Nucleus OS recreate it:
1. In your file explorer of choice go to the Nucleus>data>RoonServer>Cache (the way you get there will be different depending on your OS)
2. Once you are in the “cache” directory, delete the tidal.db entries (there may be more than one):
Then log out of tidal and log back in from the settings services page. Roon should recreate the DB. The see if the problem is still there.
Many Thanks for the detailed advice. I have already tried what you wrote in the first half, but unfortunately without success. Therefore, tomorrow I will follow the advice in the second half to delete the cache. I have already found two TIDAL files that seem to be the target to be deleted. I have been a big fan of TIDAL MQA files. I have a large number of them in my library and playlists. Is this problem caused by such already eliminated TIDAL files cluttering up the system? Also, please let me know if the playback history and playlists will be maintained without problems when these files are deleted.
In my experience, when I had Tidal, the play history etc was not affected. I think the files just sometimes get borked and need to be refreshed?
Hi @Harley_Suzuki ,
Did you by any chance try this suggestion? I have seen a few similar issues resolved by changing the streaming quality:
Thank you for your additional information.
I tried what you suggested again, and after a few attempts, I finally sorted out my problem! I really appreciate all the great help you gave me. Thanks a lot!
Hi @Harley_Suzuki ,
Glad to hear that the suggestion helped resolve the issue! Also, thanks to @bearFNF for jumping in with the initial suggestion!
