Playing music and having drop off issues

Hello, I am currently streaming Tidal HiFi through Roon. I also have a Nucelus (as the core) connected to the network. And a Bluesound Node 2 that is connected VIA ethernet to the network and to a Mytek Manhattan DAC.

I was having big time lag problems, drop offs, and music cutting out when I was only using the Bluesound music App. I then joined Roon and purchased the Nucleus thinking my problems would disappear.

I ran a few tests:

  1. Streamed Tidal to my computer - no issues at all.
  2. Ran a speed test - 458Mbps
  3. I also purchased a new router a few weeks ago - Netgear Nighthawk 10

This is very frustrating and I am hoping that you can help me.

Below is a screen shot of the Audio window under settings. I’m not sure if it’s viewable.

Thank you,
Todd

Thanks for reaching out, @Todd_Lefkovic, and apologies for the difficulties here!

Besides the Netgear Nighthawk router, is there any other networking hardware in use (switches, powerline adapters, etc.)?

Do you receive any errors? If so, what errors?

Does this type of behavior only occur when streaming TIDAL content? If you play local content is there any change?

Thanks!

I recently upgraded my home network wireless router from Apple to a Netgear Orbi mesh set-up. Unfortunately this occurred around the same time as I moved from a dCS Rossini to Vivaldi set-up so it took some time to narrow what was generating a significant number of drop outs. These dropouts occurred whether I was listening to Tidal albums via Roon or music on my sonictransporter I5. I initially had the dCS Upsampler and i5 hardwired to my Router. I then tried inserting a TPLink switch between the router and the attached devices. Still suffered from regular dropouts. I took the advice of Andrew from Small Green Computer and replaced the TPlink switch with a Trendnet unit. All dropouts immediately stopped and I have not had any dropouts in the weeks since.
