Not a problem exactly, more likely ignorance on my part.
When I go to my home page and scroll down, I click on a suggested genre and press play.
Is there a way of forcing Roon to play online content from Qobuz and none from my personal library on my hard drives?
I’m sure someone can put me out of my misery!
Thank you in advance.
you could go into settings > storage and temporarily disable the storage location where your files reside
(and make sure “limit roon radio to my library” is not checked) You can get to that setting from the “Queue” icon at the bottom. (Although your library can consist of Qobuz content, too… So maybe this is less important. Just assuming you are wanting “unfamiliar” songs in this use case.)
When I had Tidal I would use the Album focus filter to make a bookmark of Tidal and then another one of “local” files and then just select the bookmark when I wanted to play just one or the other.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
Only my Qobuz library appears in the list, but their whole title list doesn’t so I can’t get it to work successfully.
I think Chris’ solution best fits my needs case.
For clarity:
The reason I want to switch off local files is that when I have roon radio on, I want music that I might not have heard before. I’m familiar with my own library and I want to be led down that rabbit hole and discover new sounds.
Not quite what you want I don’t think but you can go in that direction using a smart playlist.
I have one called ‘never played - full library’ and it essentially makes a list with songs I’ve never played within Roon. In my case, I have this set to my local library plus Tidal albums I’ve added but there is a location tab in there and you can make it just play tidal.
What this won’t do is alter Roon radio behaviour when your queue ends but at least you’ll hear exclusively all the new stuff from Qobuzz albums you’ve added.
Maybe put this as a feature request? It would be nice if Roon Radio could be made to play things that are informed by your taste shown by your library but absolutely not play anything from your library. I rather like that idea.
