Playlist Creation like in Plex

I’m just starting out creating playlists with Roon. I’ve been using Plex. I want to do the following. I want to create a playlist for a particular artist. I’ll use Ben Folds as an example.

  1. I want to create a playlist where the artist is “Ben Folds” or contains “Ben Folds”

  2. I also want to add songs where the title contains “Ben Folds” Example "Somewhere (feat. Ben Folds) with the artist Jane Doe.

I can’t seem to do both in Roon. Am I missing something? I’ve attached a screenshot of the Plex options for matching. You “And” them together or “Any” them all.

Hmm. Assuming your meta-data is good, smart playlists are the way to go ..

  1. Go to Playlists
  2. Click on the +New
  3. Click on New Smart Playlist
  4. Click on Tracks
  5. Scroll Down to the Performers Section
  6. Click on View More
  7. In the filter box type “Ben Folds”
  8. Click on Ben Folds to turn it blue
  9. Click Done
  10. Click Save
  11. Give it a Name
  12. Click Create

Thereafter, if you add any track where Ben Folds is listed in the credits as a performer, it will show up in the Playlist.

Yes, but can smart playlists “AND” / “OR” metadata like “Contains ‘xxx’ in Artist” OR “Contains ‘xxx’ in Track Title” ?
