Playlistinformation

Hi, if I import an album from Tidal, let’s say Alain Caron ”En / In Concert”, and make a playlist called ”Jazz”, when I then open the playlist I can’t see the ”Artist”. It’s a blank field. Is there any way to edit this?

It doesn’t normally happen as the metadata is not usually this lacking, but It’s because the track credits for that album don’t have a primary artist.

Until the metadata gets updated, you can fix it by:
Select all the tracks, then edit and add a primary artist credit. The playlist will then have a populated artist field.

Ok, how/where do I ”select all tracks”?

Ok, I wondered if you needed a little help there…

Long press or right click on a blank bit of a track.
On the top of your screen will appear

Tap the little triangle as I have done and Select All
Then on the top right choose Edit.
Now edit > edit track > edit credits.

This KB article may help.

Great! Thx, now I’ve learned something new…

When I edit the album above to ”Live”, I can see the livetag in my album menu, but it will not show up in my playlist Jazz. I only have Tidal music in my Roon, and my playlists are imported from Tidal and not possible to edit in Roon, or? Can this be the problem while I can’t see my artist even if I edit it according to your instruction?

Maybe because there are tracks in the playlist? Try adding the live tag to the tracks too and not just to the album. Does this help?

No, I can’t edit a single track in a playlist because the playlist comes from Tidal. I can edit albuminformation in the album menu, both livetag and primary artist, but my tracks in my playlists will not update. The album AND the playlist comes from Tidal, I don’t have any local files in Roon. I don’t get it…

You have to create a local copy of the playlist to edit it.

Content in your library is not the same as content from TIDAL. That’s why you were able to edit the TIDAL album after you added it to your library. You can now also edit the tracks (they came with the album). The TIDAL playlist is from TIDAL and contains (points to) TIDAL content which you can’t edit (of course for obvious reasons). You have to import the playlist in Roon (making it a Roon playlist) to be able to edit contents (making it point to your imported and edited TIDAL album/tracks).

Ok, but then I have to update my local Roon playlist manually everytime I add a track from Tidal?

Yes as a TIDAL playlist and a Roon playlist are two different things.

As @BlackJack said, you need to add the tag to the tracks.
Do the Select All edit as before for all tracks, and edit the track metadata to show Live as Yes. The playlist will then show live against each track.
