Please do not link "power on" between zone members

I have two systems in one zone. Most often I play them together so the same music is playing in the two rooms. But, when I am only working in my office, play turns on the streamer in the living room. This is shortening the life of the lit screen in the expensive LR unit. Screen off doesn’t work as lights with every track change and it is not the way I run it when actually listening in the LR.

It seems unreasonable to constantly add and remove players from the zone. It seems to me it would be simple to have an option to never turn a unit back on once it has been manually turned off here (turning it off here stops the music and it turns back on when the music is again started):

.

If needed, an overall option to control this could be added here:

Keeping a unit in standby with soft-off for convenience reasons will also effectly shorten the overall life expectancy, so maybe there’s a power toggle to really switch it off?

Most opinions are to the contrary including the unit’s designer. And, the power switch is on the back of a separate power supply that is a cabinet below.

… ah, okay, opinions, can’t argue with that!

From Auralic FAQ:

Can I keep my ARIES always on?

Xuanqian Wang

Yes, ARIES has been designed to work 24 hours 7 days a week, there is no problem keeping the unit always on.

It is however recommended to turn the display off while you do not use the device.
