Description of Issue

I have signed up for a trial, and it will expire in a week, would support explain the options for subscription?

  1. Do I get old pricing as I have signed up in 2022?
  2. If I go for annual subscription, do I get old pricing?
  3. If I then wanna change from Annual to Lifetime, do I get the old price for lifetime or not?
  4. If 6mos into annual, I decide to cancel, do I get 6mos refund? or I am charged for the full year?

Basically, I wanna try Roon for a few months (with annual price) to see how it works for me, 14 days is too short, eventhough I got a 30 day trial through a affiliated link, it still shows 14 days>?!

Then if I love it, would like to buy lifetime, if not, cancel… and not sure what price do I have to pay for it then, or if I lose all year subscription?

Paging @accounts for you; they will explain it.

Hi, I’m not Roon, but I’ve seen many statements / replies from them on pricing questions …

Yes.

Yes, provided you allow the trial to automatic switch over to a paid subscription.
Note the old pricing is only for first payment, after that period the next charge would be at the prevailing price at that time.

No.

You have 30 days to cancel for a full refund, after than no refund.
Note, this is only for annual, it is not applicable to monthly or lifetime.

If you cancel, and then take out a new subscription it would be at the prevailing price at that time.

Hey @Alex_B,

Thanks for creating this post to find out exactly what your options are  . Thanks go to @Geoff_Coupe and @Carl for making sure you get those answers.

@Carl, your answers are spot on, for every single one of the questions.

@Alex_B, I would like to just add a little piece of information about changing for a yearly to a lifetime subscription. What I am about to say is documented here as well. For the first 30 days of purchasing a yearly subscription, the amount you paid is credited towards the purchase of a lifetime subscription: instead of paying $829.99, you’d be paying $710.11 if you change your billing plan from yearly to lifetime in that 30 day window.

And here’s our Refund Policy.

Thanks, so with the annual plan, I will be charged for the whole year, and unless cancelled within 30 days, I won’t get any refund if changed my mind even 2mos in, right?

Now, last question, would I also NOT get the old lifetime price, if I just went monthly and then upgraded?

The reason for asking, is that 14 days is absolutely NOT enough time to decide! It takes a few days to set things up, it then takes some playing around to see if it’s as cracked up as everyone says.

I also wanna set it up on my Synology as well, since I don’t want my main desktop running all the time as Roon server, and wanna see how my DS 920+ handles the Roon core and that also takes some time to setup and test.

As far as I understand it, to get the old lifetime price, you had to go lifetime before January 1st. It does seem you do get a discount if you go lifetime in the first month of an annual subscription, as Beka already stated.

No, clearly you would NOT get the old lifetime price, because you’ve gone monthly after January 1st 2023…

Hey @Alex_B,

As @Geoff_Coupe has said (thx ), the only way to benefit from old pricing, for a lifetime subscription or any other, is if you allow your free trial started before January 1st 2023 (yours was started on the last day of December 2022) to automatically convert into the paid subscription of your choice.

Should you cancel the trial and purchase a subscription afterwards, new pricing will apply. New pricing will apply to any subsequent renewals after this first charge. To illustrate, if your trial converts to a monthly subscription and you want to purchase a yearly or lifetime, new pricing will apply to that change.
