I’m ready to get it now because of the offer, but my subscription is still valid until end of October, so the deal ends up being interesting only randomly… (and imagine someone who just subscribed a month ago!)

I assume you want to go from annual to lifetime?
If so, why does it matter when the lifetime licence kicks in? Taking it now means you benefit from the offer (I understand that a monthly or annual subscription is added to the end of the current subscription.)
A lifetime licence may go up or be withdrawn any time.
Yes exactly, I want to switch from Annual to Lifetime.
My point is simply that since I still have around 5 months remaining on my current annual subscription, upgrading to Lifetime right now effectively makes those remaining months “disappear” financially speaking, since the Lifetime access starts immediately and replaces the current plan.
That’s why the current promotion becomes only marginally advantageous in my particular case. (Assuming that lifetime licence will still exist by the end of October obviously)
For comparison, Plex handles this differently: when upgrading from a recurring annual subscription to a Lifetime Pass, they refund the unused portion on a prorated basis, which makes the transition feel much fairer for existing subscribers.
It doesn’t though, does it. The subscription you paid for upfront will run, and then the new subscription takes over.
You could have taken a lifetime last October, but chose an annual, knowing the terms.
That’s not what was mentioned in the newsletter I received about the promotion
But in fact, it doesn’t change anything as the lifetime licence doesn’t have an end date.
It’s a lifetime licence and starting it today, tomorrow or in October makes no difference because the licence doesn’t expire.
