Ports on ASUSTOR NAS Reported as Already in Use by Roon Server (ref#DY133T)

Network Setup

· I use a single personal router not provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· The ARC settings page says "Not Ready," but I can still connect to ARC via cellular data. I'm having another problem.

Describe the issue

Regardless of which port I try, the system tells me the port is already in use. I have tried many and have confirmed that no application is using most that I've tried. I've reviewed all settings in my router and have found nothing that looks problematic. Roon Sever is installed on ASUSTOR NAS. Router is also an ASUS model.

Describe your network setup

ASUS RT-AX82U ethernet connection to unmanaged switch. Router connected fiber network. NAS connected to unmanaged switch via Link aggregation. DHCP active on router. Port forwarding one via Router and NAS via EZ-Router using UPnP/NAT-PMP.

Hey @Richard_Freve,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your report - welcome to the community as well! Sorry to hear about your issue.

If you have two routers active in your setup, you’ll need to ensure port forwarding is enabled on both - using the same port numbers.

It may also be helpful to check which services are currently active on your NAS and note their assigned ports. This will help identify any overlaps with the ports Roon Server requires.

If port forwarding continues to give you issues, another option would be to consider testing out using Tailscale - here’s more info on this:

We’ll be monitoring for your reply!
