Objective: Create a Roon endpoint to be able to stream Roon, Airplay, and Spotify to a secondary Yamaha Aventage bedroom sound system.
I selected the following equipment/solutions based on research. I chose to oversize the storage and compute capacity.
* Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2019 Quad Core 64 Bit WiFi Bluetooth (4GB)
* HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro
* RoPieee XL
* Samsung PRO Endurance 32GB 100MB/s (U1) MicroSDXC Memory Card with Adapter
* CanaKit 3.5A Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply with PiSwitch (USB-C)
* Steel case for HiFiBerry Digi, Pi 4, V2 (Hasn't arrived yet)
I followed instructions per RoPieee website guidance. Worked like a charm. When RoPieee says be patient on updates, restarts, etc. it means it! Some steps can take several minutes.
My full streaming chain is: Intel NUC running Roon Rock> RPi4 4G RAM w/RoPieee XL>Digi+ Pro>Toslink> Yahama Aventage.
Works well and sounds great! I am able to stream Roon, Spotify, and Airplay to my Yamaha secondary system via my new Roon Endpoint via RoPieee.
