Roon version 1.1 (build 99) stabe (32-bit)
Windows 10 Enterprise - 64 bit - latest updates installed (Version 1511 OS Build 10586.71)
Roon launches no problem, but when I minimize and then maximize I get the blank roon app. This issue was fixed quite some time ago.
I have an older 500 MB discrete Nvidia PCIE card installed (I did this to resolve the issue that existed with the built in Intel Graphics controller on Gen 3 i7 CPUs).
Yesterday I added a 27 inch Apple Thunderbolt display - this is when I noticed the minimizing and maximizing causing Roon App to show up blank. It starts fine - the issue only occurs when I minimize Roon - when I re-maximize nothing is there, I need to kill the app and re-launch.
I don’t think you need to kill the app and re-launch; just switch the window size (i.e. if it’s fullscreen, click the “restore down” icon, or if it’s in a window, click the “maximise” icon). This has the effect of repainting the graphics, and you can carry on…
Tried uninstalling both the Intel graphics software and the nVidia software and drivers. Downloaded the latest drivers for both and did a clean install - still showing the same issue. As soon as you minimize Roon, it does not re-paint the display or refresh. This is with the thunderbolt display connected, I have not tried disconnecting the TB display to see if the issue goes away…
I have exactly the same issue, but maximizing and un-maximizing will almost always fix the problem (but not all the time). I believe the problem started when I got a new monitor and switched to a mini-DP input.
Hey @louawalters – sorry for the trouble here. Every time we’ve seen these symptoms, it’s come down to a bug in Intel’s drivers.
We’ve seen a number of members resolve this over the last few months by upgrading to the latest Intel drivers, and we’ve also seen people (including you, it sounds like ) fix this issue by telling Roon is use their NVIDIA GPU.
There’s a little more information here, but I would experiment with the latest Intel drivers, then let us know if things get better.
I have gotten back a version of this: after the iPad sleeps, it comes back to an empty screen but the hamburger menu is there, and works. So not a driver bug,
Sometimes. Other times it comes back on an album I recently looked at but not the current one. Never to the album view I was in.
I flat out removed all of the Intel and nVidia drivers, software, and devices. I pulled my pc off of the network, so that the OS wouldn’t automatically install new drivers. I downloaded the latest HD4000 drivers from Intel for my Gen 3 i7. They were dated Dec 21, 2015. The latest available from Microsoft have a date of Aug 10th 2015. I also re-installed (and completed an nvidia clean install). This did nothing to fix the issue. So nothing changed between the drivers that were installed, or the latest from Intel.
It may be affecting those of us with two graphics cards. I have an Intel HD4000 plus nVidia GT630. Latest drivers. Thunderbolt off of motherboard to Apply 27inch TB display (the latest one), 2X 24 inch connected to nVidia via HDMI and DVI respectively. In the past the two 24 inchers were connected to the nVidia and I never had the problem. It wasn’t until I connected the TB display (Intel HD4K GPU) that I started to see the issue again.
