Post-Apple update, Roon fails to identify network devices and local files missing (ref#R707FL)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Apple ran an update two nights ago and it stopped roon from identifying devices on the network. I tried several fixes and eventually uninstalled roon and reinstalled it. Now none of my music files or playlist are shown. Only the ones from Tidal. And, it still doesn't see divices on the network.

Hi @Ray_Price, the macOS update plus the reinstall points to two separate things here, the network discovery problem and the missing local library.

First, please make sure your music storage is still connected and visible on the machine running Roon Server before we touch anything else. If the files live on another Mac, NAS, or external drive, Roon will only show them again once that location is mounted and accessible.

If you need a refresher on moving or reconnecting library storage, FAQ: Moving your collection to a new folder, drive, or NAS is the right place to start. Optionally, if you have a Backup that you can restore, you can give that a try to get your previous database back.

For the device discovery side, we should also verify that everything is still on the same local network and that macOS did not change which app has network access after the update. The steps in Fix Missing Audio Devices After a macOS Update in Roon may apply if the Server is running on that Mac.

Let us know if the above helps!

Hi @Ray_Price,

Just checking in on this. Were you able to confirm that your music storage is still mounted and visible on the Mac running Roon Server? If you have not already, the backup guide we linked earlier is still the safest next step before any database restore or storage changes, and the same goes for the library move article if the files live on another Mac, NAS, or external drive. Additionally, we released a Roon hotfix update that should help with the missing devices, so if you haven’t had a chance to update Roon, please do so. Let us know what you are seeing now and we can take the next step from there.
