Describe the issue

No connections to end points after update

Describe your network setup

Asus XT8

I’ve rebooted my network twice. I’ve turned off then on Local Network access 3 times. I’ve restarted my Roon Server (Mac mini M1) 3 times. Still no connection to end points. I’m posting this to let you know.

What is it about Mac updates that make it so problematic?? This is happened multiple times to me. It seems that your testing prior to update release needs to be revised and improved!

thanks
rob

Hi @Rob_Welles,

Thanks for the report.

What Zones are visible in Settings → Audio? MacOS security restrictions affect RAATServer’s connection to the loopback ethernet interface, which means that System Output (“This Mac,” anything plugged into the Mac) would have disappeared as well.

You’ve mentioned a mesh network in your description. Enable multicast routing in the LAN—> IPTV settings in the ASUS GUI, along with IGMP snooping if available.

We’ll watch for your response. The team has ongoing work to prevent MacOS from interfering with device discovery - you can expect progress on this in future Roon updates. Thanks!

Hi Connor,

I am running both Roon Server and controlling Roon with the same computer. Roon is allowing me to use a Qutest connected to the computer via USB. So System Output did not disappear from the Roon Server. System Output did disappear from my remote computer.

Here’s a screenshot of my updated IPTV settings. Enabling multicast routing did not make a difference.

thanks,
rob

Hi Connor,

Did you make any changes to my Server?? When I woke up this morning, all my end points showed up. I’ve made no changes since my last message.

thanks,
rob

Hey @Rob_Welles,

Thanks for the update - we’re glad to hear things are functioning properly! We haven’t made any changes to your account, so certainly keep us posted on how the next 24 hours or so go. :+1:

Happy listening in the meantime! :musical_note:

This has happened several times before, where I try everything to get the end points recognized. Nothing works, just frustration. Then, without reason, everything works the next day.

Just wish I didn’t have that hassle!!

Hi @Rob_Welles,

Thanks for your patience, and I’m really sorry to hear that this issue has been a recurring frustration.

Our development team is actively working on some changes to Roon that aim to improve how macOS servers discover and maintain connections with endpoints. While I don’t have a specific timeline to share just yet, these improvements are in progress, and we’ll be sure to include details in our release notes when they become available.

In the meantime, I’m glad to hear that things are currently running smoothly for you. If anything changes or you run into trouble again, please don’t hesitate to let us know—we’re here to help.
