Found out the hard way that one of my two Roon ROCKs (I am setting one up for brother) wasn’t plugged into the equipment rack’s UPS, and a power outage nuked the SSD storage drive. My second Roon ROCK was plugged in and did alright, but I hadn’t completed the process of adding files and thus also idiotically, do not have a music file backup of the majority of my content, nor a Roon OS backup with all the metadata for it.
Installing the SSD to my PC as a D drive for troubleshooting, Windows sees it as an unformatted healthy Drive 1, and EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is able to see all the music files (meaning, I can recover them to a different location).
My thoughts were:
If I use EaseUS Partition Magic Pro instead of the Data Recovery Wizard, I might restore the whole SSD storage drive so that replacing it in the Roon ROCK might have it thinking everything was great since the metadata and all files etc should be as it was before the outage.
However, I’m thinking I should use Data Recovery Wizard first to copy all music files offline in case a Partition recovery gets botched and I lose everything.
Does this sound like a logical course of action? Belatedly, it makes sense to me, since I didn’t have anything backed up previously, lol.
Thank you!

We would suggest copy the files off the drive now, since you can still see them, and store them somewhere safe as the first step. After that, we would try running a check disk on the drive.
Connect the drive to a Windows PC, then run the following in Command Prompt as Administrator:
chkdsk E: /f
Replace E: with the correct drive letter for the drive. Once that finishes, safely eject the drive from Windows using the “Safely Remove Hardware” option before unplugging it. After chkdsk has repaired it and the drive is clean, try connecting it again to the ROCK again. Let us know if that helps.
An unfortunate but useful nuance here is that a recovered file is not automatically a trustworthy file. Since you’re in between databases anyway, one option is to spin up a temporary Roon Server on the PC and deauthorize whichever ROCK was previously active when prompted. Try to import the files to the new server and verify that Roon can identify and play them correctly. It’s worth checkig this before reinstalling the SSD.
Let us know if we can assist further and we’re sorry that you’re in this position due to the power outage.
I appreciate the replies.. thank you. Just been out of pocket due to lots going on all at the same time (new driveway & landscaping, along with car troubles and aquarium issues), but I’ll get back to this today if all goes well. I’ll summarize what I’ve done and where my head scratching still is later on today as well!
