Precautions when using Synology with Windows Roon

I discovered a serious issue while using Windows Roon with my Synology NAS.
When SMB3 multichannel is enabled on the network and Roon automatically scans music from the network drive, the Synology NAS crashes.
In the end, it means you have to forcibly reboot the Synology… At this point, if the NAS HDDs are configured in RAID 5 or SHR, it could be fatal.
However, after disabling SMB3 multichannel, I confirmed that the problem no longer occurs.

SMB3 Multichannel is a feature of the SMB 3.0 protocol that utilizes multiple network connections simultaneously to significantly enhance file transfer speed and reliability.
SMB3 Multichannel can only be used if both Synology NAS(2.5G + 2.5G Lan card) and Windows PC(2.5G + 2.5G Lan Card) are installed.
If the setup consists of a NAS (1G + 2.5G) and a PC (1G + 2.5G), communication will occur only through the faster link, and the slower link will be used only when the faster one experiences severe bottlenecks.

What is “SMB3 multichannel”? I’ve never heard of this.

A server should never crash caused by actions of the client, so I‘d say that’s at least as much a Synology issue
