Presets applying across different devices in Roon (ref#OW7QHV)

· Trying to fathom muse presets with Roon. I have one on my iphone for when I am using the app on the iphone playing over bluetooth to my 2 A1 speakers, this is pulling music across wifi from my Roon server on a mac mini. All good. But when I go to my Macbook and use the Roon app there to play over wifi to my Wiim Pro which feeds my A9 over toslink, I find that it is using the preset I have on my iphone for bluetooth. I would have thought presets should be for specific routings/zones/outputs so how can this be?

Thanks for your post. There’s been some confusion around this issue in the past so we’re eager to ensure we’ve interpreted your report accurately.

Are you able to share a screenshot illustrating what you’re experiencing on the Mac?

Check the actual Signal Path within Roon, which is hardcoded to be fully transparent, to see if the actual DSP chain is changing when you switch to the Toslink Zone.

Do you have a second preset for the Toslink Zone as well? If only one preset is available, Roon will default to that until you’ve configured something different as a second preset and saved it.

Each Zone (each independent digital output available to Roon) will have its own, dedicated DSP configuration in MUSE. A preset is a saved snapshot of one of these configurations so that you can have a global “memory” of different configurations across your Roon account and can use the same preset when relying on different Remotes (and RAATServers).

We wanted to circle back to ensure you had sufficient clarity on this question from the answer above. This architecture and topology can be complicated, but Zones are fundamentally how Roon handles signal flow and simultaneous playback across different devices and protocols.
