Prevent ARC Smart Downloads from downloading banned music

Two features that Roon has announced in the past months are Smart Downloads in ARC and an improved Banned music handling. Unfortunately it would appear that these 2 have been developed in total isolation.

I recently discovered that ARC’s Smart Downloads is downloading banned albums. This does not make sense. But it’s worse, after deleting te download, ARC simply starts downloading it again…

The first sentence explaining Smart Download states: “ Smart Downloads (SDL) is a feature that automatically downloads your favorite music to your phone”. How could that ever include something that I’ve banned? Sure I understand that banned is explained as music that I don’t want to be recommended or added to the queue automatically. In other words, where I have full control on when I play it. So why download it. If I want it offline, I’ll download it manually. Otherwise it’s just using up storage on the phone that could be used for music that I actually do want to listen to.

So please prevent Smart Downloads from downloading banned albums. Or at least provide a setting so that I can control whether or not banned albums are downloaded.

Perhaps an additional idea is to add the possibility to “ delete and not download again”.

I would categorize this as s bug and contact support to get it fixed.

He already did and it was deemed expected behavior, which is why he opened the feature suggestion.

Personally I’m a bit torn about this. I see the point of the feature request, but in the other hand a banned item doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t like it, just that I don’t want it played automatically. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t want it downloaded.

On the other hand one could argue that if I want to download a banned album, I can do this manually.
