Is there a way to prevent Roon adding albums to Recent activity (added) when adding a new storage location.

If the albums in the added storage location are new to Roon then no.

If the albums in the new location are not new to Roon, make sure Roon only has visibility of one instance of the tracks.

To do this disable the original location before enabling the new (or edit the watched folder and point it to the new drive)

This way Roon will know that the file has moved rather than being a duplicate.

Please see @Carl’s response above. This is expected behavior in Roon, but you can prevent this behavior by disabling and enabling Watched Folders when changing locations.
