Primare NP5 volume conundrum

Hi there.

I’d like to configure things so that the input volume to my DAC is not attenuated either by Roon or my Primare NP5 Prisma Mk2 network bridge.

In Roon device setup I have the NP5 volume control set to fixed and in the Primare app I have the NP5’s output set to fixed. You’d have thought that would do it, but the Roon signal path shows DSP volume set to 50 although DSP volume control is not an option in Roon’s NP5 device setup.

So, what gives? Is this Roon foible – i.e. DSP volume control is not actually being applied – or is there a way to disable it which I have yet to discover?

Regards
Fergus

The signal path also shows you where steps happen. I bet it’s not Roon in your case but you didn’t share your signal path so this is a guess. Set the offending device’s DSP volume to maximum value to resolve your issue (note: you may have to change your settings temporarily to regain access to the volume setting).

Screenshots of the output path, Roon device setup and Primare output setting as follows.

I’ve also asked Primare support the same question so, hopefully, the problem will be solved one way or another.

Ah ha! Not to worry. I just did what I should have done before which is to power everything down and then power them up again, and then reset the configs and - badabing badaboom - DSP volume 50 has disappeared from the signal path.

Happy days!

As can be seen from your signal path, the offending DSP volume reported is from the Primare (and not Roon).

That then took care of the unwanted DSP volume on the Primare.
