I have a problem seeing RPi3b-HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro in Roon.
I can see the RoPieee web interface and can configure it OK and connect either by WiFi or ethernet cable. However the device does not appear in Roon?

Anyone any ideas? Happy to SSH on and have a look if anyone has any pointers.

We have a single Linksys WiFi Router (WRT 1900C), so a flat network. This connects to a Virgin Modem/Router for internet access.

Looking at dmesg - some device not recognised?

OK, just on the off chance I tried changing the DAC selection in the RoPieee web interface from:

HifiBerry DAC+/DAC+ Pro/Amp2
to
HifiBerry DAC

And bingo the device is recognised on boot and is seen by Roon. The DAC Hat is actually a HifiBerry DAC+ Pro? So I’m not sure if the HifiBerry DAC+ Pro selection is wrong in RoPieee or I just misunderstood and selected the wrong device?

Hmmm…

I’m gonna look into this. There are more reports with the Hifiberry stuff not working properly.
Good to see that at least you’ve got it up and running.

Thanks,

Thanks Harry, not sure what the difference is between the driver for the plain HifiBerry DAC and the HifiBerry DAC+ Pro ?

(Harry ten Berge) #5

me neither

I’ll try to figure this out.

(Russ Baldwin) #6

Sadly when we connect it up no Sound, so not really working and also no volume control? I guess it is to do with the wrong driver?

(Russ Baldwin) #7

In the meantime, whilst Harry works on the problem, does anyone have or could point me to an older version of RoPieee that definitely supports the HifiBerry DAC + Pro hat?

DietPi? .:grimacing:

(Russ Baldwin) #9

Thanks Slin_FishGutter, it seemed like a good idea so I gave DietPi a try.

Pretty much the same result. If I select the HifiBerry DAC+ Pro from the audio menu in DietPi, reboot etc and nothing shows up in Roon.
Alternatively if I select the HifiBerry DAC (not + Pro) it does show up i Roon but again no sound out.

Anyone any ideas?

At least, that’s a clue.

i think your hat is fried

(Russ Baldwin) #12

The hat maybe fried, I’ve sent an email to HiFiBerry to see what they have to say.

Got a replacement hat and it worked straight away, so definitely a doa Hi-FiBerry DAC + Pro hat. I shall return it.

Thanks to everyone who helped, much appreciated, small donation sent to Harry to help further RoPieee development.
