Description of Issue

I’ve accumulated several “ghost” duplicate albums. When I focus on duplicates I have several albums that are not duplicates and several albums that appear to be duplicates but the non-primary album can’t be deleted. Roon says it doesn’t exist.

Example 1 are these Laila Biali albums which are listed with the duplicates focus, but have no duplicates.

Example two is the Black Pumas album. When I attempt to remove from library I get the following error message.

The Frank Gambale album and the Jelly Jam album have the same issue.

I did a library cleanup, but the library database clearly doesn’t think anything is wrong.

These problems don’t affect my enjoyment of Roon or my ability to play music. They’re niggles that affect my compulsion to maintain my database as pristine as possible. Thanks for any suggestions on a fix.

If you are 100% sure you want to get rid of these albums out of your library, then
Album Edit
Identify
identify as any of the proposed albums, which makes Roon writing something in its database.
Remove from Library - removes the ‘identified’ album.

There are other workarounds, but this one always works (my own experience)

That did work for the Black Pumas and Jelly Jam. I tried it with Laila Biali with no luck.

Can you provide a screenshot shiwing the different versions of that last album?

That’s the thing. There’s only one version. At some point Qobuz replaced one version with another that appears identical. As a follow up, I removed the Laila Biali album from my library and tried to add it back. Now I can’t add it to the library. When I try to add it back it says it’s added but I get the never ending rotating icon. I’m concerned that this scenario will corrupt my library and eventually cause Roon to fail. I’ve got a lot of time and effort into curating my library and I’d hate to have to start over.

Please try the following steps:

  1. In Roon, check Qobuz - My Qobuz - Favorite Albums.
If the album is showing up, go to Qobuz app (outside of Roon) and unheart the album.

  2. In Settings- Library - Clean Library - Cleanup deleted files if any.

  3. In Settings - Services - Qobuz - Edit - Sync Library Now
This should remove the album from My Qobuz - Favorite Albums.

  4. Restart Roon server (I even recommend a full hardware restart)

  5. Go back to the Qobuz app, and heart the album anew.

  6. Go to Roon and execute Settings - Services - Qobuz - Edit - Sync Library Now

  7. check My Library - Albums. If it does not appear check if it is visible at Qobuz - My Qobuz - Favorite Albums.

Dirk, that actually worked. I think restarting the server was probably the key here, but I’m certainly glad you’re smarter than me  Thanks again.

Nothing to do with being smarter.
I just never want to give up, trying/testing everything until I cannot come up with anything else.
And indeed, sometimes Roon is quite challenging.

I think one of the things Roon could use is more robust database maintenance tools. I realize you don’t want too powerful tools in the hands of end users, but as demonstrated by my case I clearly had something haywire in the database that the existing Roon tools were not able to identify or rectify.
