Problem with imported playlists

I regularly back up my playlists in Excel format.
I’ve had problems with Roon before, and losing them would be a real shame.
Once converted to m3u files, I can re-import them.
However, once imported, the tracks on the albums that make up these playlists are no longer tagged.
Re-tagging them results in duplicates in the list.
In fact, Roon is unable to tag tracks on albums that appear in an imported/restored playlist.
I hope that’s clear…

Sounds like your reimported lists are not tracks from your Roon library. Roon can only tag objects that are in the library.

Good day @Patrick_BERNARD1 !

I hope you’re doing well today.

Could you please clarify what do you mean under “Re-tagging them results in duplicates in the list” ? What is being duplicated and what is “list” ?

And another question to understand problem, do you add playlists with path directing to the watched folder in Roon or not ?

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.

Hello. Thanks to your reply.
I can import my saved playlists by modifying the export files created from Roon to Excel. I manipulate them manually to obtain m3u files. I use relative references… here is an example from the file : #EXTM3U ../01-FLAC/Zztop/The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990/1973-Tres Hombres/08 - La Grange.flac ../01-FLAC/Zola Blood/2017-Infinite Games/04 Good Love.flac
The list is imported correctly. I then copy it using the appropriate menu and delete the imported list. If I go to the copied playlist, I can find the tracks I had in my m3u file. However, if I click on them, I am redirected to the album track. The playlist does not appear on the track. If I add it to my playlist, the track will then be duplicated in my original playlist.
What I don’t understand is why the song in my playlist isn’t marked with the playlist label on the album track even though it’s part of it.

Hello. Do you have some news about it ? I’m sure. It’s very easy to reproduce this issue

Hello @Patrick_BERNARD1 @Patrick_BERNARD2,

Thank you for the update.

When you modified the M3U playlist, was there any difference in the file locations between the original and the modified version?

Absolutly. None. I only replace this text /var/packages/RoonServer/target/roonmnt/MOUNT/MUSIQUE_1 by ../

Hey @Patrick_BERNARD1,

If you reboot Roon Server after making these updates, do you see the playlist listed correctly?

FWIW and I don’t know if it’s the case here, but the playlist tag never seems to update right away when you add a track to a playlist.

I always need to leave the album and enter it again (and IIRC not just with backwards/forward buttons but fresh through the Discography or similar) to make them appear.

In my case that’s with regular Roon playlists and has been an issue for at long time.

I have made many reboot … no way

Same another problem here … and since very long time.

The loss of playlists is truly devastating.
