Problems with track loading

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)

Apple Mojave running on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro 2.5 Ghz with 2 TB SSD and 16 MB RAM

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)

ethernet linked dCS Bridge connected to Chord M Scaler and Hugo TT2 in dual BNC mode

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)

See above – the dCS Bridge is linked to the MacBook Pro via AirPlay

Hi Rez files (24/96 and larger in AIFF format) are failing to play longer than a minute or so. The Roon prompt states that they are loading slowly which may indicate a hardware issue. There is currently almost half of the SSD 2 TB capacity filled, so the disk is nowhere close to capacity.

Hi @David_Street,

Was this working previously? If so, were there any changes around the time this stopped working?

Since experiencing this issue have you tried rebooting the Core, networking gear, and endpoints?

Hi Dylan,

Yes it was working previously; all of the components in the chain have been rebooted. The problem is still apparent even with an identical MacBook Pro that has exactly the same library content on it. I had noticed a similar but less intrusive problem when both computers were fitted with 1TB SDDs. This seemed to have been resolved by switching to 2 TB SDDs, but has since declined after more Hi Rez AIFF sound files were added to the libraries. I also notice that setting up a queue of 16/44 AIFF files can lead to the same outcome.

With best wishes,

David

Hi @David_Street,

Where is your music stored? Is it on an internal SSD, a USB connected SSD, or is it being accessed over the network?

If you play to System Output of the Core machine instead of to the dCS Bridge does that work for you?
