Describe the issue

See pic, analyzing has been going on for over a week now, and the total number changes all the time. Is that normal? What to do?

Also, should these two options be throttled or fast? I have Roon on a high end pc, can choose up to 24 cores. What should I choose? I read the help section, but didn't really make me wiser. -

Hi @Bjornvarthr

Until @support find your thread on the forum, are you seeing a red dot on the hamburger menu icon?

Try disabling the background audio analysis process. Reboot your Roon server. Once back up and running head back to the library page of Roon’s setting and re-enable background audio analysis.

What DNS do you use?

Hi @Bjornvarthr,

Thank you for your post. Do you have any performance issues in Roon, like slow loading, playback interruptions, or hanging during browsing? Or is the unexpected duration of analysis just a curiosity? We want to ensure that your system is functional in the meantime.

The short answer - yes, it’s (sometimes) normal for Roon’s background audio analysis to run for days or even weeks, especially with large libraries or if the analysis is throttled. Importing content or changing existing database items will re-trigger analysis, causing the overall numbers to fluctuate. If Roon never finishes analysis or you have other persistent issues, then what you’re experiencing is not normal and we’ll pull diagnostics to further investigate.

This depends greatly on the makeup of content within the library. For instance, a library consisting of high-res bootleg live concert recordings will take longer than a library comprised of a few hundred CD imports.

With a capable machine like yours, you can very likely keep Background Audio Analysis on Fast, as well as On-Demand Analysis, to allow for analysis to finish as soon as possible.

Please let us know if we can provide more information.
