QNAP early access doesnt seem to be early access

i downloaded that latest release
RoonServerEarlyAccess_QNAP_x86-64_2022-11-17.qpkg

and installed it, it shows up like this

also i cannot open the little info screen on the QNAP UI … it only shows a blank screen

Hi, @Tino_Nettling, thank you for your report, I asked the outsourced developer responsible for this area about this. Will post an update here as soon as I hear back.

Thanks!

Hi, @Tino_Nettling, I spoke to our dev team. Usually, other versions of RoonServer can be installed on QNAP by creating a ROON_DEBUG_INSTALL_URL.txt file in the RoonOnNAS folder with the desired RoonServer download link.

In case of the Early Access build the contents of this file should be https://download.roonlabs.net/builds/earlyaccess/RoonServer_linuxx64.tar.bz2 .

When the file is in place you can redownload the RoonServer in QNAP’s web UI of RoonServer (the box icon next to the ambulance icon…).

Could you please try that and see if that works for you?

Thanks!

i did thats, but i still have the issue that when i open the roon app on the QNAP Interface i only get a white screen. Therefore i cannot push the update button you mentioned.

QNAP offers me to update the app, wich gives me most likely the production version… but i’d get the UI back working and could push the button

Got it, thank you for the answer. This flow is not managed by our dev team, so I am flagging @crieke here.

@crieke, what do you think might be causing this issue?

Thanks!

Hi, @Tino_Nettling, here’s a potential workaround:

  • Uninstall RoonServer in the App Center. (Your Ronn Server database folder won’t get deleted by this)
  • Create a (plain) textfile ROON_DEBUG_INSTALL_URL.txt on the root level of the RoonServer shared folder (case sensitive!) with the early access url (https://download.roonlabs.net/builds/earlyaccess/RoonServer_linuxx64.tar.bz2) as content. (If you don’t have a RoonServer shared folder, create it in the Control Panel → Shared Folders)
  • Install RoonServer again in the app Center.
  • Open the QNAPs Roon Server web panel, and specify the database location.
  • You can now delete the textfile again (and remove the RoonServer shared folder, in case you created it before)

Could you please try that and let me know if you area able to switch to EA branch?

Thanks!
