Qobuz Playlist Display Issue in Roon 2.71 (ref#D1377Y)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Qobuz playlist content is not updated in the Qobuz section of Roon, although the playlist itself is correctly synchronized

I’m experiencing a strange Qobuz playlist issue in Roon 2.71.

I have a Qobuz playlist called “Happy Songs”.

The playlist synchronization itself works perfectly:

* Changes I make in Qobuz are correctly reflected in Roon under Playlists → Happy Songs (with the Qobuz icon).
* Changes I make in Roon are also correctly synchronized back to Qobuz.
* Settings → Services → Qobuz → Sync Library Now does not resolve the issue.

The problem occurs specifically here:

Roon → Qobuz → Playlists → Happy Songs

For example, Qobuz currently has 25 tracks in the playlist.

In the Roon Qobuz playlist view, however, I only see 22 tracks.

But when I press Play / Play All on that same playlist, Roon actually plays all 25 tracks.

So the important point is:

* The playlist display shows 22 tracks
* The playback queue contains 25 tracks
* The 25 tracks being played are correctly synchronized with the current Qobuz playlist

This makes it appear that the underlying playlist data is correct, but the track list displayed in Roon → Qobuz → Playlists is stale or not being refreshed.

I have tested this on both:

* iPhone Roon Remote
* iPad Roon Remote

Both show exactly the same behaviour.

My Roon Server is running on a Roon ROCK / Intel NUC, and I am running Roon 2.71.

I have not deleted or recreated the playlist because the synchronization itself is working correctly.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue in Roon 2.71, and whether there is a way to force the Qobuz playlist view to refresh its displayed track list?

The fact that “Play All” plays 25 tracks while the playlist view displays only 22 seems particularly relevant.

Tell us about your home network

· Network setup:

* Roon Server: Intel NUC running Roon ROCK
* Internet connection: fiber
* Roon Server connected via Ethernet
* Network switch: LHY Audio SW-6 SFP
* Weiss DAC502 Mk2 connected via Ethernet
* Roon Remotes: iPhone and iPad
* Qobuz is integrated directly into Roon

The same playlist behaviour occurs on both my iPhone and iPad, so it does not appear to be specific to one Roon Remote.

Hey @Jeffrey_George,

Thanks for the detailed write-up, it made the logs quick to read, and they point somewhere a bit different from what the symptoms suggest.

The 22 isn’t a stale count. At 09:46 on 14 September your Roon Server posted a new playlist to your Qobuz account:

Successfully posted new playlist Happy songs / 203:0:70159832

A playlist action in the app uploaded a local Roon playlist called “Happy songs”, sitting at exactly 22 tracks since the evening of 13 September, to Qobuz as a brand-new playlist. Your previous local “Happy songs” drops out of the logs a minute earlier. So 22 was that playlist’s full contents, not three tracks lost from 25.

Why the view and playback disagreed. The list under Qobuz → Playlists comes from Roon’s cached copy of your Qobuz library; Play All resolves the playlist live. The cache only refreshes when Qobuz reports the playlist modified, and yours kept declining:

playlist has not been modified, skipping update for 203:0:70159832

On Sync Library Now: the logs show only two forced syncs in three weeks, the most recent at 08:46 on 14 September, an hour before this playlist existed. It’s worth retrying, since a forced sync is exactly what bypasses that “not modified” shortcut and re-reads the full track list.

Suggested steps:

  1. Check Qobuz directly for two playlists named “Happy songs”, the upload may have left a duplicate.
  2. Run Sync Library Now, then force-close and reopen the Remote on both devices.
  3. If it drifts again, note the time and send fresh logs.

To your direct question: this isn’t a known 2.71 bug in the form described. The cache-refresh behaviour is something we want to look at more closely, and your logs are a useful example, thank you for sending them. :+1:

I have now performed another test as suggested.

A few hours ago, I removed 5 tracks directly from the “Happy songs” playlist in Qobuz.

Qobuz now shows only 20 tracks in the playlist.

However, in Roon:

Qobuz → My Qobuz → Playlists → Happy songs

Roon is still showing 25 tracks.

So even after several hours, the Qobuz playlist view in Roon has not refreshed and is still showing the previous 25-track version.

There is only one “Happy songs” playlist in my Qobuz account.

This also confirms that the problem is not simply a delay of a few minutes.

The interesting part remains that the playlist under Roon → Playlists → Happy songs (Qobuz icon) synchronizes correctly, while Roon → Qobuz → My Qobuz → Playlists → Happy songs does not.

Could you please advise what you would like me to do next, or whether you would like fresh logs from this test?

Hi @Jeffrey_George,

Thanks for running that test and sending such a clear write-up. It made the change easy to find in your logs.

Your Roon Server saw your change about 11:06 on September 18, local time. It updated its own copy of “Happy songs” to 20 tracks, and that’s why Roon → Playlists shows the right list.

Qobuz → My Qobuz → Playlists doesn’t use that updated copy. It reads from a separate, older saved copy of the playlist’s tracks. For several minutes after the update, playing “Happy songs” from that view still queued 25 tracks. Your logs show the same thing happening earlier in the week, once for more than a day. So this isn’t a short delay. That saved copy isn’t being refreshed when the playlist changes on Qobuz.

We’ve sent this to our development team with the details from your logs.

Could you try one thing for us in the meantime?

  1. Restart Roon Server. On your ROCK, you can do this from the web interface.
  2. Go to Qobuz → My Qobuz → Playlists → Happy songs and check how many tracks it shows.

Let us know whether it shows 20 or still 25. Either answer tells us more about where the old copy is kept. Until this is fixed, Roon → Playlists → Happy songs is the best place to view and play the playlist, since it stays in sync.

Thanks again for your patience.

I restarted the Roon Server as requested.

After the restart, both Roon → Qobuz → My Qobuz → Playlists → Happy Songs and Roon → Playlists → Happy Songs showed 20 tracks, matching Qobuz.

I then added one track to Happy Songs in Qobuz. Both Roon views now correctly show 21 tracks.

So the restart appears to have cleared the stale saved playlist copy, and subsequent Qobuz changes are now syncing correctly.

Hi,

Everything seems to be working correctly now. After restarting Roon Server, the playlist showed the correct number of tracks in both Roon and Qobuz.

I then added another track to the playlist in Qobuz, and the change appeared quickly and correctly in both Roon views.

So at the moment the synchronization is working normally and much faster than before.

Thank you for your help and for passing this on to the development team. I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if the problem returns.

Best regards,
Jeffrey

Hi @Jeffrey_George

Good to hear it is behaving. Thanks for running each test and reporting the counts back precisely, that is what made this one readable.

Worth being clear about one thing: the restart cleared the stale copy, it did not fix what let it go stale. If that view drifts from Qobuz again, a Roon Server restart will clear it the same way. The underlying behaviour is with our development team.

One suggestion while you are watching it: please update to the current 2.73 build if you have not already. You reported this on 2.71, and we would rather any recurrence be on the current release.

We are closing this thread. If it comes back, please open a new one and link here so we do not start over.

Hi,

Thanks. I have already updated Roon Server to the current 2.73 build, and everything is still working correctly and syncing quickly.

I’ll keep monitoring it and, if the issue returns, I’ll open a new thread and link back to this one.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards,
Jeffrey

Hello @Jeffrey_George,

The fix for the stale Qobuz playlist view has been completed by our development team. Please let us know in a new thread if it comes back.
