I had this problem with Qobuz.
For me, it was an IPv6 versus IPv4 issue. After editing /etc/gai.conf to prefer IPv4 addresses (and rebooting the Roon Core machine), I encountered no further delays.
I would not know how to fix that on RoonOS.
