Okay, here goes.
I’m able to stream TIDAL through Roon with no issue, though not sure whether I natively request beyond 24/96, as that is a hard limit with my DAC.
qobuz through Roon might drop every other 24/96 stream, but oftentimes it works OK too. It’s more likely to drop out in the mid evening local time (i.e. my favourite listening time is right in the evening peak). But I suspect I can still get enough bandwidth, as I’ll outline below.
The design of my internet setup and room means I have to use wifi. However I have a cellular 5G modem which doesn’t allow for an ethernet cable, but does offer very good download speeds throughout the day. So… streaming over wifi seems to be fine often enough.
Also I can play qobuz at “CD Quality” just fine off my phone (with the DAC!), and presumably can use Roon with this setup too (if I’m motivated).
I freely confess I’m no techie, and while Roon can sometimes frustrate it really on the main is elegant. It’s unlikely I’ll go back to physical… certainly not vinyl.
