Hi everyone, I have a question about library management in connection to downloads for offline use in ARC.
Except for offline use in cases where I’m traveling without cell service, I always want to use Tidal streams via Roon. This keeps my activity updated in Tidal which then also keeps feeding Tidal recommendations. As well as Roon recommendations.
I used to have my library set up like this: ALBUM (Tidal highest quality) grouped together with an equal or lower quality local copy. Tidal version was set as primary version. In this case, all my local copies were basically not visible in the album view except if I go to other versions. This led to ARC not seeing my local copies for download in the ARC downloads section when clicking on Find Music to Download. It was empty because all my local copies were grouped to the tidal versions which were set as primary.
So then I went through the painstaking process of ungrouping all local copies from tidal versions one by one. This allowed me to see my local copies and download them in ARC.
The downside is that I now see duplicates in my album view unless I focus on just Tidal or on just local files. And for those cases where I have a local file version of the same quality as Tidal’s, Roon seems to just pick at random which one of them to play on Roon Radio or put into discovery playlists and mixes. One song is from tidal, the other from local copy even though I have the tidal version in my library.
So how to set up my library to check all these requirements:
A) Have Tidal versions always prioritized in streaming while online
B) see local copies as available for download in the downloads section of ARC (without doing this in the Other Versions section of each album individually)
C) not see duplicates of tidal and my local files in Roon’s album view or artist page
Thanks for the help!
