Random silent playback, mid-stream with Roon

Hi,

I built my second Ropiee on Raspberry Pi 4 B.
The Pi got:

  • Power - Apple 30w PSU
  • Network - Ethernet (same LAN as Roon server, a ROCK)
  • a USB DAC - Mojo 2 - with it’s separate power

Unlike my other setup (Identical but the DAC is different) I got some mid-stream silence… like 3/4 of song it and no more music. Mojo “balls” stays same color, and the playbook on Roon keep going.

Any idea what it could be?
It happened few minutes ago, I generated Log to Ropieee HQ with ID 7276c8d561617421

The logs show that your DAC disconnects/connects a few times. Very quickly, but such a disconnect will interrupt the audio stream.

Don’t know why, and as a fellow Chord owner: never seen that.

I’m not sure, but is the Apple psu capable enough?

Thanks

Hi @spockfish

Thanks for looking at the logs.

It’s a 30W PSU so I’d believe it is. I tried a different one, also 30w rated (UGREEN) and I did experience the same “random silences”. I’ll swap out the PSU→Pi power cable, I am using an Apple white one.

The same Mojo had zero issue when hooked up on my iPad.I am using the very same Pi → Mojo cable I was using with the iPad.

Any recommendation for the USB port to use on the Pi?

Try a different USB cable between the RPi and Mojo 2.
Edit: same cable with iPad to Mojo 2 works :+1:

Try all the USB ports on the RPi.

The Apple power bricks worked fine for me with my RPi, but worth trying a Forrest one. Also, try a different cable between power brick and RPi.

Thanks @Mr.Flibble

I swapped the two cables with some spare ones I had, and ordered some short ones, I wanted to unclutter the desk anyway.

I found a Scarlett Audio Interface USB-A to USB-C and so using the USB-C port IN on the Mojo. I figured that should be good enough quality

Let’s see.
