Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks,
Jan
Please explain what you mean, in detail.
I have a 2025 HP laptop running Microsoft Home 11 that I use exclusively as my Roon server. I use a 5th generation iPad for my remote. My router is a Spectrum WiFi 6. Recently, I attempted to start Roon and could not connect the server to the remote. I tried turning both devices off at least 5 times with the same result. Since I had backed up my server data base recently, I decided to uninstall Roon on my server and reinstall it with the backed up database. I removed Roon successfully from my laptop, and immediately tried to download new software from the Roon website. I downloaded the Rooninstaller64 successfully. Although I did this successfully a couple years ago, I do not remember how to re-install my data base in my roon server on my laptop from the external hard drive where I keep the database backed up.
Thanks for any suggestions you can give,
Jan
But on the laptop the Roon app works and you can use it?
If yes, it might be a network related issue and restoring a backup might not fix it.
It’s possible that a Windows update reset the firewall and you have to re-allow various Roon processes in the firewall rules.
Although, reinstalling Roon might take case of this automatically.
If you uninstalled Roon completely (including settings and database), this is like installing Roon from scratch for the first time. There should be a „restore a backup“ button before you log in, as described here in Step 3: Restore Your Database:
Thank you for your information and suggestions. I am currently backing up Roon on my laptop. We’ll see how this goes.
