Recognition of Music Files

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)
Nucleus Plus

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)
Sony HAP-Z1ES with several hundred albums on its internal drive.

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)
Cary DMS-600 as my end point.

Description Of Issue
Have a Nucleus Plus which plays music from its internal and external drives and the NAS on my network without problem.

On the Cary I can go to the internet input, see the Sony’ and its albums, and select and play music.

I want Roon to be able to recognize these albums. The Nucleus does not recognize these.

The Nucleus initially did not recognize my NAS until I went to storage and added it as a network drive. When I try to add the Sony to network drives I get an "invalid path " message.

Is it not possible to connect the Sony or am I missing some procedural step?

Hi @Paul_Monroe,

Can you share a screenshot of what you’re entering into Roon? Are you able to access the HAP from a Windows or Mac machine using File Explorer/Finder?

Yes, on my computer I can see the Sony (HAP-Z1ES, as well as the Nucleus,my NAS(TS1200D2D0), Paul-HP, and PAULSMAINPC .BTW, everything is hard wired, no WiFi.

As to what I have been entering, I have tried:

  1. \HAP-Z1ES
  2. \HAP-Z1ES\share
  3. \HAP_Z1ES\HAP_Internal_RV1 (RV1is where all the music filer are, each in its own folder)
With all of these I get the invalid path message. So I don"t know whether I can’t accomplish this, as a friend suggests, or more likely I am not doing something right?

Hi @Paul_Monroe,

Can you try using this path:

smb://HAP-Z1ES/share

Does that work? Is there a username and password associated with the Sony that you can try?

You might also try using the IP address instead of the machine name.
