Describe the issue

Hello, sending you warm greetings from Monterrey, Mexico. I've been a Roon and Roon ARC user since their inception. The issue I'm having now is with Roon ARC. It happens with both Apple CarPlay and Android Audio. When I get in my car and want to use Roon ARC (even though I haven't closed the app beforehand), my iPhone 15 Pro Max connects via CarPlay to my 2024 Chevrolet Trax LT, and the main screen appears very quickly, but it doesn't play the track I was listening to. Therefore, I have to pick up my phone, open the Roon ARC app on the screen, and press play on my phone. I think it's a bug, but it works sometimes, though most of the time it fails, and what I've already described happens. Another detail is that when Roon ARC first opens in CarPlay, the main screen seems to scroll down repeatedly, as if it's refreshing several times, until it finally stop. So then I can handle it, but the track I was playing doesn't appear immediately, it spouse car play shows a circle with triangle on the right upper side of the screen, so when this behavior happened it doesn't appear that circle with triangle to see what is playing or next to play, if I touch the square icon on the left side, to show the maps and the music app (in this case Roon ARC) it appear the track but without play, if I apply the play in this screen option ot doesn't play. As I mentioned, I have to pick up my phone, open the app, and press play there. I understand there might be some delay in internet network communication, but my home ISP's upload speed is very fast with low latency via fiber optic, and my core is fast enough. For example my fast.com test is with 3ms to upload and 27ms to download. There aren't many programs running, so I think it's a great application. They just need to polish some minor bugs that are still present, regardless of the core's capacity or the level or quality of service of the ISP's networks.

Describe your network setup

Modem is Iphotonix ONT ISP Izzi Monterrey México, Router TP Link AX5400 connected to my Core by GB Ethernet, and my Core Roon Server is HP Pavilion x360 14-dw0XXX iCore5 1035G111thG with 24Gb RAM Windows 11 Home 25H2

Hi this is Gustavo, I already upload a video where you can see the problem reported.
Regards.

Good day, is there any update regarding this case?

Hi @Gustavo_Adame,

Thank you for your patience and for graciously taking the time to record and upload a video. We’re passing the video along for review and to see if we can reproduce the behavior in-house on a related head unit.

From the video, it looks like the CarPlay head unit doesn’t receive any information about the Now Playing state at all when you connect it to ARC.

Something with the media session isn’t binding correctly between ARC and CarPlay when you connect.

What happens if you are playing music in ARC through the phone speakers as you turn on the car and connect to CarPlay? Does this make any difference?

After the Carplay connect to the head unit and show the ARC screen, like you saw in the video, I take the phone and hit play and the music sound on the speakers, and the play status refresh on Carplay screen of the head unit. This is happening since the ARC release with the first version, and additional to that, sometimes didn’t appear anything on the ARC screen on Carplay the head unit, but at the moment to hit play on the phone it works. And this is happening in Android Auto too, and I tested with other cars head units and is the same behavior. Hope you can develop the solution of this problem. Regards.
