And out again after 2 minutes
20.21 complete drop out
I’ve been thinking;
the problems started in February.
Perhaps this helps you look back at the updates where things went wrong.
I’m reading on the Meridian forum that there are more and more complaints.
I hope this is useful to you, because it’s really no fun anymore.
Thank you for your patience.
Roon Server logs indicate that two things are breaking playback.
-
Tidal is returning
asset not ready for playbackresponses when Roon requests the URL. This is upstream of Roon and at the level of your Tidal account; either you’re not authorized to play the requested media in your geographic location due to rights restrictions on the part of the distributor, or there is an issue with your Tidal account tier. Can you play content via the Tidal app directly? -
The Live Radio dropouts are between your server and the Meridian. The track that last dropped out finished buffering, but then the 218 sent a
teardownrequest to Roon Server directly. This isn’t packet loss or WiFi interference; something in your chain is interrupting the TCP connection between Roon and the Meridian 218, which is causing it to dropout mid-playback.
We need to try a few tests in order to fully deducate what’s wrong here, since Roon is behaving as expected in these logs.
First, bypass the switch and hardwire the Meridian 218 directly to the same router to which you’ve hardwired Roon Server.
Second, try disabling all DSP and playing low-quality tracks at 44.1KHz. Play local library content and see if you can reproduce the dropouts again.
If you attempt to play a live URL stream for Radio Paradise from their website outside Roon, do you have any issues?
I am authorized for tidal.
Tidal plays well on the iPad
The system only works if I have connected the server (Angel Rhein) and the 218 to the router
I can’t find DSP management
Radio paradise (just like all the other channels fall out of nowhere)
If I want to change something in Roon, so another track or radio station
Want to change there will be a failure
And then the most important thing, I never changed anything and the malfunctions came into the system.
So I think the fault lies with Roon (after an update from Roon or tidal)
And on the Meridian forum there are already many of the same complaints worldwide.
Is it possible there is something wrong with my modem, kpn 12
Does this mean you left out your switch? If so you probaly found the problem.
It is connected as follows:
Fiber optic > KPN modem >
The router then feeds into the Silent Angel and the 218.
I hope that is clear.
And I have just installed new firmware for de 218
Still dropouts
Hi @Eric_Besemer,
Thank you for the updates. There are still a few outstanding troubleshooting steps to try:
- Isolate Roon vs. network: Please confirm if playing the Radio Paradise stream directly (outside Roon, e.g. in a browser or their app) on the same network. If that also drops, it points to the router/ISP; if it's rock solid, it points to something specific to the Roon Server ↔ 218 connection.
- DSP/local playback test: Connor asked to disable all DSP and try local library content at 44.1kHz to see if dropouts still occur without any streaming service involved. I do not see a confirmation doing this, it would isolate whether this is a streaming-only issue or affects all playback via the 218. Here is how you access MUSE/DSP:
- Router-level connection handling: Since the 218 is issuing an explicit teardown (not silence/timeout), it's worth checking the KPN router for aggressive connection-idle timeouts, SIP ALG, or "smart" firewall/deep packet inspection features, some ISP routers proactively kill TCP sessions they consider idle, which would produce exactly this symptom (track buffers fine, then gets cut).
- Tidal-specific: still worth signing out/back into Tidal via Settings → Services if not already done, since the 401 pattern is separate from the 218 teardown issue and may need its own fix.
- Timestamped correlation: Getting one more precise timestamp right after trying #1–#3 above would let us cross-reference logs against a controlled test rather than "Still dropouts".
I have tryed everything, no success.
Link you sent doesn’t work
I also changed the firewall settings, but that didn’t work either.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Hello, can you provide a solution? It’s a total disaster. Whenever I press the three lines and the arrow, the connection drops.
Hi there, I just installed Qobuz and it’s showing the same issues…
It’s an absolute disaster again today!
The music keeps cutting out (out of nowhere).
