Thank you a lot for Ropieee. I’m using it now on „all“ my Roon endpoints.
With this new version, my one Pi Zero 2W connected via WiFi seems to have more issues. Playback sometimes skips tracks or stops playing. I can restart playback with different success. Physically restarting the pi often fixes it for some time.
Next to something with this new version my other suspicion is a dying power supply.
The instability appears to be related to the wifi dongle. When reverting back to the on board wifi, the issue seems to be gone. @spockfish Have there been any changes in release 2024.06 that could effect the stability of this wifi dongle (TP-Link ARCHER T3U PLUS)? In my experience, it worked just fine in previous versions.
Unfortunately the dongle uses a Realtek chipset, which means that the driver support is far from ideal (to put it mildly). With RoPieee’s next release there will be an update of the Realtek driver, but fingers crossed.
Your logs seem fine, except one message about the HAT. However, I’m not sure if that explains your experience.
The other thing I noticed that you have enabled quite a few additional services (like Plexamp, Squeezelite, Airplay etc.). And I see that Plexamp, for example, is not configured properly.
If you aren’t using these services I suggest to disable them (put output on ‘off’).
I’m preparing a beta for RoPieee’s next release, it might be worth to try that one out when it arrives. It could be (small chance) that your issue is resolved with a kernel update.
Thanks Harry, will take a look now, presuming I’ve gone mad with the settings trying to figure out what was going on. Will move over to the beta channel now too for a while
So the HAT is alright, my external headphone amp i was testing with was also alright, it turns out the screen I’ve been using without issue seems to be breaking something with the HAT. Will have to look into that at a later junction
Hi,
i use Ropieee only with my RaspberryPi 4 1GB, use has endpoint NAA for Hqplayer Embedded.
I use Ropieee in wifi mode, Raspberry with Ropieee is not connect with ethernet cable to the router, only with wifi, Hqplayer send files DSD 256, and in my hears the sound is much better then wire connection, i am very satisfy.
I had from the last 3 weeks, the last version 24.06.0 (1677), but very often the sound stop working, problems with connection Ropieee/NAA-router-Hqplayer Embedded, and every time i must reboot Hqplayer and Ropieee.
Yestarday i dowload and start to use the version RoPieee 2024.04.2 (1622) [STABLE], and i DID NOT made the update to new version 24.06 (1677), and works very well again, sound never stop.
I dont know and dont understand what is the problem with the last version, maybe the new NAA? Maybe something WPA3? Wifi connection between Ropieee and router?
I have an old Apple airport time capsule router, update the last firmware, it has always worked very well.
Harry @spockfish do you know what the problem can be? Thanks
Thanks @spockfish, yes i also suspect the wifi is the problem. I am away for the next 3 weeks, i will try the beta when i will be back home, and maybe in 3 weeks the beta will be the next new stable version.
I play spotify via spotify connect. I can see the service on Spotify, once I try to select the service, it disappears for a while and comes back. It seems the spotify connect service is not stable. Wonder anyone out there have the same issues?
I have sent you a feedback log# eb625e5ab5902149 and the log is send after Spotify reset my account password.
I have reinstalled ropieee on my RPi 4 and the Spotify service takes a long time to show up on my mobile phone . Spotify has reset my password twice and claim I have abnormal activities in my account.
Hi, I have the exact same symptom. I was listening on my main system (2024.06) at the beginning of the week without any problems. Then I continued listening on my phone during a run. After a few minutes, the account was blocked by Spotify (Spotify reset my password due to abnormal activities). After changing the password, it then ran smoothly for a few days. Yesterday the exact same thing happened. First main system via 2024.06 and then mobile with subsequent account blocking due to abnormal activities. Now I’m wondering if the use of RoPieee could have anything to do with it? In this scenario, I have been using Spotify for a few years now without any problems.
I did not encounter these issues recently, but that was before I went on holiday.
This happens before in the past, when Spotify changes something on their end.
I’ll follow this closely, and as soon as the PR has been approved/accepted, I’ll update it asap.
