Release 2024.09.1

@spockfish … I waited a little bit more before pulling the power supply and I could access the web page again, this is the feedback
54f6b03e4d4bd96a
.
and one more information … it crashes itself too (the whole RoPieee) … after sending the feedback there is no web page available anymore

Well,

There is no crashing.

But… there is a continous (every 3-5 seconds) connect/disconnect from the ethernet connection. This also explains the difficulty in reaching the webpage.

Has something changed in your infrastructure? On the router side? Or something in the cabling?

Thanks

No changes at all, I’ve just installed this last release

Just tried to reboot the switch which the rpi4 is connected to, let’s see what happens, thanks

There’s nothing in there that justifies these network issues. No kernel update, nothing of those things…

Let’s see indeed what happens over time after your router reboot…

@spockfish - might it be possible to download the .6.0 version until there’s a chance to investigate/resolve the WiFi dongle incompatibility? Thanks!

Edit: Ignore me…found it! If it helps at all, the feedback for it working correctly on .6.0 is d61cb8ca5062e982 .

After the switch reboot all is running fine … thanks

After this patch I can’t turn AirPlay service off

There is no “disable” for the service as such, you just switch the output to Off instead of Hat or USB.

I know that, it does not work, the service still on.

Hi there,
I updated yesterday to the latest version and noticed something that was better handled in the previous versions.
I am using ropieeXL as a NAA bridge for HQP and my Cyan 2 DAC. I had in the past (do not ask me which version) quite pronounced crackling when sample rate switched from one song to an other. This was much better (almost not hearable) in the version before the September update and now the crackling is quite noticeable back.

Any tipps how to reduce / eliminate this?

Thanks

Not yet updated Ropiee, because I’m in vacation, but a few questions:

  • occurs this only while changing to next/previous track or also while “normal” playing ? → in some previous versions of Ropiee we’d a permanent crackling, which disappears after a kernel update.
  • which hardware and connection (USB or I2S or …) are you using as NAA client?
  • what are your HQPlayer settings?

Hi Burkhardt,
I use a RPi4 and connected via USB.
Crackling only when jumping to the next song and when this song has a different sampling rate. No crackling during listening.
HQP settings will follow.

Ah, what I would change in your settings:

  • DSP pipelines to 2 instead of 8
  • Multicore not greyed, but enabled
  • Bitrate limit to 48 kHz x 256

Are you enabled the DAC correction for the Holo Audio (I’m using the embedded HQP and don’t know where this is to set in the desktop version)?
Enabling eats a lot of horse power…

Thanks.
I disabled 48k because in the past that caused more problems with crackling but I will try again.
What is strange is, that I cannot set DSP pipeline below 8, there is only default, 8, 16, etc….

Yes I use DAC correction, that why I use the super or light modulators.

Will see what effect this brings.

P.S. If it has nothing to do with ropieeXL we can switch to the HQP thread.

So 48k brings my M1 to it‘s limits, so I switched back to 44.1.

I now have distinct cracks when skipping from one song to another, one at the end of the current track and next crack right before the start of the next track.
According to Jussi this has something to do with initialisation of the DAC to the new sample rate, or so….

It can be, but try also Jussi’s NAA image for your RPi.
If then occurs the same problem, than it’s not a fault in Ropieee.
Also: Try to activate adaptive rate and be sure, that you’re using the newest version of HQP.
If you can’t set pipelines to 2 in the GUI, you can change it in the config file manually.

Hi all,
I have an Allo Usbridge SIG (Sigh…). With a Marantz HD-DAC1 attached via USB(duh). I use UPNP (Minimserver) to play music, and also stream from Spotify. I started off with Volumio in the early days, but that gave too many glitches, so after some research I started using RopieeeXL. Worked great, but at first Spotify stopped (known issue), but now also UPNP seems to be broken.

I thought being smart to go to the beta channel to have the latest and greatest, but I see that the patch for the UNPN issues only applies to the Stable versions?
How do i go back to the stable version, I of course changed it, but it still shows that I’m in BETA.
Luckily I still have a Google Audio streamer lying around…

Hoping for some suggestions/ideas.
Regards,
Annejan
