Release 2025.04

Hi all,

It took longer than anticipated, but here’s a new RoPieee release!

This one is largely focused on supporting the new ‘Display 2’ official Raspberry Pi touchscreen, but some nice other goodies are also included.

So I hope you like it!

Here’s the changelog for completeness:

  • NEW: support for the new ‘Raspberry Pi Display 2’ touchscreen
  • NEW: support for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5
  • NEW: auto-update firmware on the Pi 4
  • IMPROVEMENT: upgrade Linux kernel to 6.12 LTS
  • IMPROVEMENT: [display] rotation now also works on the Pi 5
  • IMPROVEMENT: update Plexamp component
  • IMPROVEMENT: update Librespot component (Spotify)
  • IMPROVEMENT: update UPnP player component
  • FIX: RoPieee does not boot on Pi 5 Rev 1.1

As usual, it will take a few hours before the update lands on your unit.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Regards,
Harry

Hi Harry, before this update the Red led was off selecting Green led off, now it is always on

Yeah, I know. This is (probably) a result of the new kernel, so I need to investigate.

Hey @spockfish — new here, just downloaded one of the images and noticed it took a hot second. Have you thought about doing torrents? I, for one, would be more than happy to seed and am sure it would help decrease load on your servers a bit.

I think downloading any software on torrents these days is a bad idea. Many people can be fooled into downloading a malware infected variant.

Display1 arbeitet nicht. :frowning:
Roon funktioniert.

@Thorsten_Schwab

Hi Thorsten,

This was a remark form @spockfish in the Beta-release:

So please connect your display 1 on the port “cam / disp 0”.

Kind regards, Frank.

Das war die Lösung
Danke viel mal. :muscle::muscle::muscle::muscle:

Lange Zeit ging nur Anschluss 1 jetzt ist es 0.

Not what I’m describing. Oftentimes images, including those from Ubuntu, will also have torrent links posted officially by the provider and people can seed those which reduces strain on servers and can improve download speed.

I understand that.

@spockfish Hi Harry, I installed last version. Right now I’m away from home but RoPieee was present. Roon found the Endpoint, WiFi was ok.

I have a question about new settings in advance tab. For better compatibility (I don’t have display, instead TV connection to Roon) with my gear I should Touchscreen Type should I set Off or Autodetect. I don’t plan to buy Touchscreen panel in the future.

Regards

Leave it be. If you don’t have a screen (nor have plans for it), there’s no need to do anything with that setting.

Hey @spockfish, the time is 1 hour behind on my display. I am Eastern Standard time in the U.S. We just recently had Daylight Savings Time so that might be why. Any easy fix?

You can try to change your timezone to a city which has the right time.

You should change in Ropieee GUI System/Timezone to Your country. Than clik Configure button. That’s it

Regards

Perfect. Changed it to New York city and all is fixed. Thanks Bruno and Frank!

Good evening all,
I‘ve just got the new Raspberry Pi Touch Display Version 2 and installed it right away on my Raspberry Pi 4. It is working using the Display port, but when I hook up the Hifiberry DAC it doesn‘t.
Should I try the Camera Port, as noted for the Pi 5?

I also tried it with the Hifiberry Amp2 using an external 60W adaptor, same result.

Best regards
Frank

Roon on RoPieee like always works perfect.

I can’t see any issues in my device.

Regards Harry for another game changer

No. That’s also not what is noted for the Pi5.
You need to use the Display port. I also don’t see what this has to do with the HAT.
And, what does it actually do? Or not? So what do you actually see?
