Hi, I signed up a few days ago and am facing problems with the remote connection on my iPad 3. I have ensure both my core and my iPad are on the same network with the ‘accept remote’ switched on on the core, etc etc. however I am struggling to connect my remote iPad. It connects sometimes and runs fine. After a while, especially when I get back to playing music it says it can’t connect or connection failed! I’m sure this has been addressed somewhere here but I would really request a helping hand. Needless to say, this is quite frustrating.
By the way, Roon works fine on my main Apple computer.
Thanks, Greg for a very prompt response. I will try doing so right away. In fact I did reload Roon from applications this afternoon. Let me try that again
Hi, Are you sure that it’s an iPad 3 that you have?? [as you state above]
I don’t believe that the Roon app will work on non-64bit iPads and the iPad 3 isn’t one of those
The fact that App was available and works at times seems to indicate that you have an iPad Air or later…but just worth checking in the Settings ----> About option of your iPad
Hi, indeed, it’s an iPad 3. Just bought it a week back because it was available at a good price. I was told not much difference between the 3 and the 4 barring processor speed! But what I find strange is that it works sometimes…
Yes – but it would not have installed anyway. Could it be you have an iPad mini 3? (That will run Roon for iOS just fine).
Connection problems with your iPad are usually caused by network configuration and/or slow Wifi. What router/wifi AP do you use? How is the signal strength at the location you use the iPad?
My apologies. It is an iPad mini3… That’s what I meant. Sorry. I will check my network speed, though it seems ok. Let me see the router specs etc and revert.
So iPad mini3 should be ok right?
Just did some reading. What I have understood is that an ac router will only benefit materially if I have ac devices. Since my iPad mini 3 is n, it may not really benefit much… Though I do get conflicting views on this and some people say the speed does improve even though the device is only n.
That is a possibility, Greg. Not sure what a wake on feature is though. It’s working fine at the moment. But I guess it may again act up. Let me observe and also see if upgrading my router will help.
I really want this to work because I am beginning to like Roon a lot!
