Description of Issue
I’ve been using the Roon app on my laptop and the ARC app on my android phone for a couple of months now with no issues.
In the last few days, I have started getting an error message when I try to access the Roon app on my laptop. See screenshot attached. This error occurs every time I try to access Roon. I have done nothing new to my wi-fi network over the past week that might have caused this issue.
Similarly, when I now try to use ARC on my phone, there is a message on the bottom of the app that states “Core last seen (x) days ago.”
I have tried powering the Nucleus+ off and on. I have unplugged power and ethernet cable, waited 30 seconds, reconnected the wiring, and restarted the Nucleus+. I still encounter the same error messages.
In reviewing logs, I see a lot of network errors connecting to Roon account servers, metadata servers, and radio servers. It looks like you rebooted it today to resolve the issue (I see the scroll of connection errors and an abrupt change to a new log indicating the reboot). It had the problem after your reboot and then recovered.
How is the Nucleus connected to your network? Is it hard-wired to the switch or modem itself and if so, what model is the switch?
Thanks @Wes. You’re correct, I’ve rebooted my rack and separately unplugged the Roon power and Ethernet and plugged them back in. Thus the impact on the log.
The Roon (and all of my rack components) are hooked up to a Cisco switch (model sg250-50hp).
The system has been working just fine for a couple of months. Arc app shows core last detected 8 days ago. Not sure if there was a firmware update that might have been pushed, rendering it incompatible? I’m just spitballing…
I have had ARC do this to me too. Have you tried going into settings and pressing “reset Roon ARC”?
I have had to do that after an update before but it typically works great. The only time this isn’t the case is if there’s some sort of core IP change. It wouldn’t affect the ability of local network traffic to recover but ARC would definitely be affected.
@Wes just to clarify, this isn’t just an ARC issue. The Roon app on my laptop can’t find the core either. Just for kicks, I reset ARC. Still can’t find the core.
I’ve unplugged and plugged in the Nucleus+ and have also powered down my network switch. Everything else in the network is working fine. Roon and ARC were working fine until last week, and I didn’t make any changes to the network.
In looking at our account servers, your last communications came from the Nucleus 19 hours ago. I do see that there’s a chance some sort of update failed. In this scenario, remotes might not see the core but it wouldn’t cause Roon servers to not be able to see Nucleus.
Can you connect Nucleus to a monitor via HDMI and let me know what you see? Is it possible to relocate the Nucleus and connect it directly to the main router or ISP provided modem?
