Tell us what's going on

· Roon Remotes can’t connect to Roon Nucleus Plus.
If I open Roon on any remote it comes up with the message waiting for server. I assume server is running,it was last night, but as I can’t open Roon I don’t know how to check. I have restarted the router, and the nucleus to no avail. I have checked my firewall and Roon is a permitted app. I am using Virgin media fibre, hub 5 and remotes are pc,iPad,iPhone.

Hi @Adrian_Folland,

Try clicking on “Select a different Roon Server” which forces Roon to clear its cache and start a new device discovery search.

Hello @Adrian_Folland,
Thanks for reaching out to our support. I understand you are having trouble connecting to your Nucleus, and I’d be happy to help you get this sorted out.
To help us isolate the issue, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Access the Nucleus Web Administration Interface: Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network and try to load the web interface. You can usually do this by entering nucleus.local/ (or nucleusplus.local/) in the address bar. If the page loads successfully, it means your Nucleus is active on the network. Please make a note of the IP address displayed on this page.
  2. Connect Manually via IP Address: Open the Roon app on your iPad. On the "Choose your Roon Server" connection screen, tap the "Help" (or "Need Help?") button. Select the option to enter an IP address manually, and type in the IP address of your Nucleus from the previous step.
  3. Toggle IGMP Snooping: If connecting by IP works but the Roon Server doesn't show up automatically, it usually indicates that your router is blocking the multicast traffic Roon uses for discovery. Log into your router's administration settings, locate the feature called IGMP Snooping, and try toggling it off (or on, if it was disabled). Save the changes and restart the router.
Please let us know if any of these steps worked for you, or if you need further assistance!

Carl, many thanks, they appear to be working you hard! In the event I managed to reestablish connection,no idea how,it just fired back up. My guess a router issue although everything else was working fine. Your solution is useful information,I was wary about taking this step as it said you no longer have access to your music but you have explained the option.

Thank you for the instructions. Everything reconnected, just as well,I think my whole life is contained on that Nucleus!

Hi @Adrian_Folland,

Glad to hear everything reconnected. We will mark this thread for closure, and enjoy your Roon experience!
