Removing primary artists doesn't stick - possible bug?

@support I’ve got two primary artists with same name in Roon. One is incorrect artist. If I remove the incorrect artist association and save changes it still persists. Bug or international due to the disambiguation required?

I think I get this, or at least it looks like it and I get it regularly enough to have a work-around. So I remove both ambiguous artists, clear library, force re-scan and then add the artist I want. If we are both describing the same behavior then it look like a bug to me.

Hi @evand,

I’d like to take a closer look at the behavior you’re seeing here. I was hoping you’d be willing to share the album that you’re experiencing this behavior with, along with the editing steps that you’ve taken that resulted in this state.

Ideally, you can zip up the entire folder and send me private message containing a shared dropbox link. If you don’t have Dropbox or need another way to send the media, just let me know.

@dylan happy to upload albeit Roon has basically assigned all albums by Karma in my collection to another artist with the same name. Do you want one or all albums?

Regarding editing…

Prior to my making any manual changes a search for Karma would yield this Karma: https://www.allmusic.com/artist/karma-mn0001995888 (I see there are over 1000 artist entries for Karma in allmusic’s database), with all albums in my collection by Karma listed.

I then selected all albums, entered Album Editor/Edit Albums tab, removed abovementioned Karma, added the correct Karma and selected done.

This is the correct namesake (which I think I added manually by adding a new primary artist by the name of Karma)

The correct Karma is actually this person https://www.allmusic.com/artist/karma-ann-swanepoel-mn0001417411

She had a band called Henry Ate and later released albums as Karma.

That’s not really an option for me as Roon is pointed to a single folder in which all my music drives are mounted, and given Roon’s predilection for running as root there’s nowhere I can move the albums to other than onto another device on my network.

Hi @evand,

Thanks for the info here. Just one album should be good since the behavior is occurring with all of them.

Thanks @dylan, I’ve sent you a link.
