Subject: SuperStereo HiRes FLAC — repeated "Slow Media" kills with a NullReferenceException in RaatZonePlayer

Tell us about your home network

· Networking Gear & Setup Details

Internet: 600 Mbps fibre, static public IP, no CGNAT.

Router: TP-Link ER706W-4G (Omada, standalone mode), firmware 2.0.1 build 20250117. LAN 192.168.1.0/24, DHCP 192.168.1.20–199. The Nucleus One (192.168.1.34) and the Rotel RAS-5000 (192.168.1.61) both have static DHCP reservations. No VLANs, no QoS, no traffic shaping, IGMP snooping not configured.

Topology: Nucleus One and Rotel RAS-5000 are both connected by Ethernet to the same unmanaged switch, which uplinks to the router. Cabling was recently rebuilt and verified end to end. A TP-Link RE705X is on the network as a wired access point, not in repeater mode.

Nothing is on Wi-Fi in the playback path.

Hi @Matan_Yair,

Thank you for the report.

Does this only occur with Tidal playback, or is it only this station affected?

The endpoint is reporting sample loss before the buffer short reads; this looks like a slow media stoppage, but it’s actually Roon killing playback because the endpoint is requesting packets that went missing and still not receiving them.

Can you reproduce this issue if you play to a different Zone? What about if you force downsampling to 48KHz or below?

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!

Hi @Matan_Yair,

Wanted to follow up on this. Have you had a chance to check whether the dropouts only happen with Tidal playback, or if that same station is the only one affected? We also asked whether the issue repeats in a different Zone, and whether forcing downsampling to 48KHz or lower changes the behavior, since the endpoint is reporting sample loss before playback stops.
