Replacing hard drive with minimum fuss

Dear friends,
I’m running Roon Core on a Sonictransporter i5, feeded by 25000 lossless files-large music library on a 2TB external HD.
What would be the easiest way to replace that ext. HD with the larger one (like 5TB) and avoid the next 15 days of indexing with many corrupted files. Is that possible at all?
Thanks in advance
Viktor

One way would be to plug the external drive into a computer USB and copy the files to a folder on the computer. Then plug in the new drive and copy them back to the new drive. That’s probably how I would do it. Of course, if you have a computer with multiple USB ports, you could copy directly across the computer from the old drive to the new drive.

You might need to rename the drive so that the OS (which you dont mention) sees the same volume.

Exactly what I meant. Is it only necessary to give the same name to volume in order to avoid reanalyzing files? The system is essentially Linux (as I mentioned it’s sonic transporter, using linux system).
