Repurposed a 2009 Macbook

I installed Ubuntu and Roon Bridge on an old Macbook and it’s working really well.

My question is about interface. I’m currently using mini-toslink from the Macbook but wondering if USB would be superior? In other words, is USB always a better method for interfacing with a computer? Specifically, asynchronous?

I was just curious if others have experimented before I buy another USB DAC or possibly a USB-toslink module.

if you only use 192/24 (i think thats the best optical can do on a the macs) then stick with that. If you want DSD then USB or perhaps LAN based streaming is your only option
