Request for a "Linked-to-Metadata" Focus Item for Compositions/WORKs

I’m convinced that linking compositions to metadata is a worthwhile goal, at least in the classical realm. That was the primary Roon value proposition for me. I intend to manage what I can control, and am starting to edit all Title, Work, and Part file tags to conform to canonical norms a la Allmusic.

I need to identify all compositions that are “unlinked”, meaning: ones that have no Description, Composition Date, Period, Instrumentation, or Form data available to it. I’ve found that these usually have sloppy wording or obsolete opus numbers that need editing.

I am using the “Has (No) Description” Focus item, but it is an inferior proxy measure for “unlinked”. A composer may have dozens of pieces not Described by Rovi but have a Date or Form, for example. These partial links clutter the list and require hand culling to get to the real orphans.

Please consider this request. Thanks.

In an earlier discussion about unlinked compositions with @joel, I learned that compositions are linked only if they are identified within some album. It is not enough for the composition to be properly tagged with WORK and PART tags compatible with Roon’s metadata sources.

You are correct, Fernando, but I can eliminate at least one possible cause with good tags. And anecdotally, I observe that about 80% of my unlinked classical works are fixed (linked) when I edit the WORK names.
